Description

This unique piece and its accompanying letter box make for beautiful additions to your personal stationery collection. The box has an amorphous shape at odds with its firm material and bears a symbol of two mirrored crocodile heads on its lid. It contains a leather case for the letter opener and a collection of 3 poems written by Dozilet Kpolo (statements on diversity, adaptability and gender dualism).

The letter opener's crocodile head features a striking Lapis lazuli eye peering above the water's rippled surface.

ABOUT THE COLLECTION

We looked to Côte d’Ivoire’s folklore to inspire the third installment in a trilogy of collections.

Complex and mysterious, the crocodile’s Akan symbolism is
transformed in recycled gold plated brass body adornments ranging from subtle to striking.

Inspired by the silhouette of a half-submerged crocodile, striking pieces like the Crocodile King crossbody necklace capture the regal magic that comes alive in their stories, while subtle pieces like the paw-shaped lip ring quietly hint at the tales’ dark edge.

Discover the mystique of the King Crocodile in Outlines, a curated collection of body adornments by OHIRI.

SUSTAINABILITY AND RESPONSABILITY

a r t i s a n a l

We support local craftsmanship. Each piece is proudly handcrafted by local artisans in Bassam, Abidjan, and Nairobi. We try to promote traditional know-how and the heritage of African jewellery art.

r e c y c l e d

Our jewels are made with gold plated recycled brass or bronze and most of them are designed with the idea that they can be worn or reused in many ways.

e t h i c a l

We are very transparent about where our products are made and who are the craftsmen who make them. We try to ensure that all artisans we work with, directly or indirectly, have decent working conditions and fair wages and treatment.

e n v i r o n n e m e n t a l

We use natural pigments and low-impact dyeing techniques, as well as natural fibers (raffia) in the production process of our bags. Our goal is to reduce our environmental impact as much as possible.
